Ministry Purpose / Vision

The members of the Welcome Team (ushers/greeters) are usually the first people that visitors make contact with when coming to service.  They are the people to welcome you to church with a smile and provide pertinent and general information about, among other things, the location of children’s programs, where to find a seat in the sanctuary, getting a copy of the sermon notes or finding the washrooms.

But beyond this–the Welcome Team exists to be the first-wave of community members to approach, connect, and embrace visitors and new people to the greater life and community of the church.

Usher:

All ushers should be ready to direct everyone out of the church in the case of a fire or emergency situation.

There are two usher roles:

  • The foyer usher’s main responsibility is to hand out the sermon notes and provide directions as needed.  The foyer usher stays in the foyer during the worship time and continues to help latecomers and to monitor the foyer.  They help with opening and closing the doors.
  • The sanctuary usher helps with seating visitors, and collecting the attendance information for everyone attending the service, including everyone in our children’s ministries.  They provide directions to the washroom and scan for empty seats in anticipation of late visitors walking in.
